Monika & Her Art
|
who was born & raised in Zurich, Switzerland, has been calling Houston, Texas home for over twenty years. While always very interested in art, she interrupted her own artistic pursuits to dedicate herself to an extensive higher education and a career in investment management - until she was ready to re-focus on her art in 2005 … “It takes a long time to become young.” Pablo Picasso
Monika loves
to travel and has enjoyed exploring the cultural diversity of Europe
& North America.
Her journeys
have taken her to some of the most scenic countryside as well as many
world-renowned museums in great cities like New York, Paris, Florence, Rome,
London, Amsterdam, Chicago and Washington
DC.
Her travel experiences are both education and inspiration for her art.
Monika enjoys watercolor painting to portray a wide variety of subjects, including land-/ and seascapes, portraits and still life pieces. Human subjects tend to dominate her artistic work in other media as she has returned to her long-time love of drawing and has expanded her study of the complexity and beauty of figures & faces through sculpting.
